Environmental Responsibility Policy

COMMITMENT AND SCOPE

This policy applies to all activities that RONI HELOU performs, including but not limited to production, fabric sourcing, as well as promotional and marketing initiatives.

RONI HELOU is committed to working towards creating a brand and company that protects and upholds the rights of people, the planet and animals. We make sure that every process our company makes does not pose any harm or threat to human, animal and environmental rights.

PEOPLE PLANET ANIMALS

We use our platform and collections to raise awareness about humanitarian, environmental and animal rights issues. We believe that is our duty to shed light on these different issues and speak up against inequality.

We do not use any animal products in any stage of our production process. We strive to find cruelty free and eco-friendly alternatives for our fabric sourcing.

OBJECTIVES

ELIMINATING WASTE

We use recycled plantable seed paper for the branding from swing tags, to packaging paper and boxes. We also use hangers made from recycled cardboards and papers.

We aim to create innovative approaches to minimize negative environmental impacts, improve economic bottom lines and integrate the social elements into our operations and end products.

We plan to introduce at least one new regenerative and sustainable alternative to upgrade our production process every year.

ELECTRICITY AND WATER USAGE AND CONSUMPTION

We track the amount of time it takes to produce a single piece of garment to then be able to translate that into electricity usage per item. We are working towards optimizing our production process to use the least amount of electricity possible per piece while maintaining an adequate environment for our production partners to work in.

TEAM COMMUTING TO WORK

With the rise of COVID-19 lockdowns and the destruction of our office and atelier from the Beirut blast in August 2020, the RONI HELOU team has been working from home, as are most businesses. However, in early 2021 with the transition of some of our core team members and headquarters to Qatar, our team has transitioned to complete remote work and no longer commutes to any office for their daily tasks. The team now permanently works from home and relies on online video conferences for meetings and teamwork.

WASTE IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

We work with an advanced production facility in Beirut that works in a way to reduce the amount of fabric waste generated in the production process. We aim to continuously work towards lowering the residual waste that arises from our production and to find new and innovative ways to utilize the waste produced.

FABRIC AND MATERIAL SOURCING

We only source dead-stock or vintage fabrics and materials for our collections. We purchase our fabrics from local businesses and have pledged to only use eco-friendly textiles or textiles that would otherwise be thrown into landfills. We aim to introduce at least one revolutionary sustainable fabric in every new collection we release and hope that the majority of our collections utilize sustainable fabrics in the future.

GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY

We believe it is our imperative to support our local communities in any way we can. At RONI HELOU we strive to support local businesses by shopping local when we need materials for production, as well as in the daily lives of our staff. We also aim to donate to one local charity every year to show our support for their efforts and help encourage them to continue their influential work.

COLLABORATIONS AND ASSOCIATIONS

RONI HELOU aims to only collaborate or partner with boutiques, brands, and people that uphold similar values and support sustainability and green initiatives. It is our due diligence to research any party we work with and approve their mission and image to be one that we would be proud to be associated with.

We do our best to work with companies and organizations that are woman led and work to empower women, as such we have partnered with different facilities in our production process such as Papyrus and La Fabrika that are woman led initiatives.

REPORTING

We are currently working on compiling a report on our environmental impact in terms of objectives we mentioned above, from fabric sourcing, production, and consumption. This report will be reviewed annually and published on our website for complete transparency.

We currently have a record of all the dead-stock and vintage fabrics and materials we source.

We also track all our beneficiaries, from local artisans and workshops we work with, to suppliers we have been partnering with since our inception and are committed to helping small businesses grow and thrive.

We measure our environmental impact through assessing the direct and indirect impact of our processes.

This policy is set to be reviewed annually.
